The pendant, earrings and bracelet pieces are curved to give them a pleasing and comfortable shape. All the pieces have a nice patterned finish on the back.
This is a unique jewellery set ... truly "one of a kind" as this particular pattern and colour combination cannot be reproduced again. The patterns on the pieces are made with a combination of two artistic techniques. The first technique involves impressing patterns into carefully selected layers of polymer clay that are then carefully sliced very thin, placed on a new support layer and then prepared for the next steps.
I love the laneways of Melbourne with their artistic graffiti so I used this as the inspiration to take a risk and do something different. The second technique is to apply a pattern of polymer clay over this to form fine lines of solid colour in a geometric pattern. The polymer clay sheet is then stretched until the desired level of distortion and cracking is achieved to replicate the effect of graffiti and the uneven "cracked" textures of the layers of paint, paper and cracking brick walls in Melbourne.
There is no paint on these pieces..... I have "painted" with polymer clay layers and techniques.
A shape was then carefully selected and the thin polymer sheet was draped to form a pleasing curve before being draped over a special form for baking to produce a pleasing curved shape to the front of the pendant. The pendant has a matching bail which both supports the pendant and adds to it's visual impact. It is designed to be hung from a smooth metal neck piece pictured designed to go through a narrow bail.
The matching earrings are shaped by hand from the same patterns as are the bracelet pieces. The bracelet pieces also have a gently curved surface and continuation of the main pattern on the back. The bracelet has a magnetic clasp. The wire connections in the bracelet and the pendant are made by hand with tarnish resistant artistic wire.
This item is hand crafted and so has imperfections that add to its unique charm.
